Bas Dirks

Portrait sheet, almost entirely pale paper. Just above centre a single dense knot of violet-grey scribble, roughly a hand's width, woven from hundreds of tiny pencil strokes under rubbed chalk — packed hard at its left edge, dissolving to the right. Around it a faint corona of dust reaches to every margin, so no part of the sheet is untouched.
